2005 Volkswagen Golf noise from gearbox area but not gearbox as its been stripped

noise is a rattle from the gearbox area at idle, sounds like a bearing on the overrun. gearbox has been stripped and nothing found. at idle noise doesn't change when the clutch is dipped

Anything done on clutch when box was out for repair ? If so , check this out ,
