1997 Volkswagen Golf engine won't turn over

Car: Volkswagen Golf
Year: 1997
Variant: gti 8 valve mk3
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
My golf's engine won't turn over when the ignition key is turned. The car has a toad alarm fitted which requires dissarming via the remote before the dash lights come on allowing you, normally, to start the car with the key. I can hear the fuel pump kick in when the key is turned but nothing else.

you need to check for a feed to the starter solinoid,if there is a feed at the solinoid poss starter motor fault,if no feed poss fault with ign switch/starter relay if fitted/immobiliser.suggest auto electritian has a look if you are unsure of how to test for fault
