2000 Volkswagen Golf starting problem

hi
when i start my car sometimes i can only hera the belt moving and no spark when i try again its 50/50 but the car does start sometimes at first and sometimes doesnt it isnt a big problem
but i just change dmy spark plugs the other day i had a service a month ago can it be the fuel isnt going through? or something to do with the spark plugs?
i never had this problem till one day my battery died out and had it changed
the wheather is cold and icy but even when the car is warm and i turn it off and try to restart it it happens happens lik 3 outta 10 trys

could be coil pack or coolant temp sencor if not starting from cold. prob best to get a diagnostic test done to check for faults
