Engine sounds different

2012 Volkswagen Golf Match TDi
Car: Volkswagen Golf
Year: 2012
Variant: Match TDi
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
The engine of my VW Golf is making a slightly different sound to usual. The sound is only slightly higher in pitch to what it was previously and this happens when I reach 30 mph or faster. It is the same consistently at any speed from about 30 mph +. It does not sound drastically different, but it is noticeable to me as the driver.
Is this something I should be worried about? If so, do you know what it might be?

are you sure it is from the engine and not say a wheel bearing noise try moving the steering wheel see if noise alters its pitch if it is on engine you would hear noise at idle and as you increase revs this could be a drive belt pulley or tensioner best to have checked out at a garage
