2002 Volkswagen Golf throttle acuator

Car: Volkswagen Golf
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.6 petrol estate
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
hi, my golf estate has a battery drain , when I run a data scan it picks up fault code 17972 , this code relates to the throttle actuator (j338) under voltage during basic setting , do you think this could be causing the battery drain ? if so can you tell me where to find the throttle actuator , cheers

I would think its talking about the throttle body motor, it will be roughly where the throttle cable would connect to, if it had one, I just googled for you and if you select images it will give you the item I think you are referring to,
If I understand you correctly I can't see how a throttle body would drain the battery as im sure the ignition would kill power to it, I assume you will be disconnecting it overnight to see?

Use your data reader and go into set up/service and follow the procedure for throttle reset.
but I doubt it's draining the battery.
