2002 Volkswagen Golf vw golf estate roofrail seal

Car: Volkswagen Golf
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.6 petrol
does anybody know how to fix a damaged roofrail seal to my golf estate, where can I buy a new one as im having trouble finding a stockist (not scrapyard) , or can I just glue the soft spongy bit on separately or do I have to renew the whole thing, need help!

From another site on this problem with some models .

" you have 3 blanking covers on the headlining by the grab handles on the inside of the car, pop these off and there are 10mm nuts that hold the roof rail to the car. after you remove the rails you have holes in the roof that you need to seal up with silicone."

thanks for the response but I think you have misread the question, the roofrail seal is the rubber weatherstrip that runs along the top edge of cars door frame, against what the door closes onto , the rubber seal is ripped and needs renewing but im having trouble finding a new seal, cheers

Then it's door rubber seal and nothing to do with roof rails .Plenty on e-bay if you have trouble getting locally .
