2007 Volkswagen Golf gearbox

Car: Volkswagen Golf
Year: 2007
Variant: 1.4s
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
Hi, Can someone please help me, I have a 1.4 (75) vw mk5 golf 2007. The gearbox went on it a while ago and we cannot find the code needed to buy a reconditioned gearbox (not that many available to buy but a few on ebay) we have tried the boot, the side of the engine? dont know what else to do as it will cost a fortune to let a garage sort this out as a reconditioned one is £600, new is £1600...Thanks

have you tried the spare wheel well for number have you thought about having your gearbox repaired find a specialist in your area might be cheaper than second hand in long run ask at a few garages who they use as they all farm box repairs out nowdays

It may be not so expensive a repair as you think as on some of the vow boxes the release bearing sit,s at the end of the box and often can be replaced by removing the end cap,so worth speaking to a gearbox repairer.
