2003 Volkswagen Golf car revvs itself

I have owned my golf for 7 months now and have had no end of problems with it. So far I have had all 4 coil packs replaced, clutch, breaks and a new cylinder head!! But the 1 problem that crops up everytime something else goes wrong is my car seems to rev itself when in neutral and stationary it revvs itself to 1500 RPM and have now got the alternator workshop light on. I have taken it to VW garage and no 1 seems to beable to find the problem. Any ideas?? Thanks

i had something similar had all sorts of lights coming up turned out to be a faulty throttle body
