the car shows an EPC light and it starts jerking. this will go on for a long time. the next day it will stop, then the day after that it will happen again. please help!!!!

You need to get car scanned to see what faults show .

CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER, had this on a polo same thing ,when i took it off black liquid came out, this traps all sorts of crap lurking in the fuel tank im pretty sure its down the fuel tank end of car

EPC - Electronic Power Control (i.e. Engine Management system) fault . This rules out fuel filter as it's not part of the EPC .
