2010 Volkswagen Fox loud noise and engine cut out

I had not driven the car for a week, turned ignition on and there was a loud noise and the engine cut out. It smelt a bit of petrol. I checked the car and restarted engine- it seems fine now- cannot see anything obviously wrong and the car is driving ok. Is there anything I should be concerned about?

Probably nothing to worry about especially if running o.k now .You would tend to get petrol smell on starting car as it runs rich on intial start up .You have got warning lights that will light up if anything untowards happening .A decent run to get car up to normal working temp and clear cobwebs after lying for a week would be an idea . May have been a one of but if any further problems get back to forum and we will try to advise , hope this helps .
