2009 Volkswagen Fox tailgate collapsed on my head

Variant: 1,1 manual
Bolt supporting the rising aids on the right side had rusted through and sheered off. Car viewed by VW Cirencester other bolt failing too. After opening the boot as per usual the Tailgate collapsed on my head with force, Significant, injuty to self, skull, brain and whiplash but potentially fatal injury could occur...........

Not very nice thing to happen .Did the strut support on the other side not take a fair bit of the weight ? Very lucky if it did . No doubt VW will investigate to see if this is a possible recall fault or a one off .
