Dead Engine

2008 Volkswagen Fox
Car: Volkswagen Fox
Year: 2008
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
This has been an intermittent problem.

The engine died suddenly.

When attempting to re-start the starter motor makes a noise and the dash board needles (speedo etc) flicker and the engine does not start.

After a few hours it restarted normally. A few days later the problem recurred.

This time it was days before it would restart.

I have now left the car into the main agents. They can not find the fault. When plugged into the diagnostic machine the car is not 'recognised'.

I would check all battery connections and earths .Especially from engine to body and all wiring / connections at starter motor .May even be an intermittent fault on starter motor itself .

That does sound like a starter motor fault.

Hi... I have a 2007 1.4 Fox Urban and I've encountered the same problem. Literally losing all power at 20-30mph and won't restart for approximately 5-10mins after.

I've already had one garage look and the AA and nothing has come up on the diagnostics.

Did you ever find out what was wrong?
