My VW Beetle Exhaust System Fault Light comes on and stays on,the car has a full service history with 49,000 miles and has just had its annual service.Could you help please?

Could be one or both lambda sensors faulty .

Thanka for your response,the car is a petrol 1.6,could they be changed by myself or does it have to be carried out by the main dealer and if it is straight forward where are the two lambda sensors located.
