Broken Speedo.

Hi, I am having an issue with the speedo of my S Reg 1.4 Auto Tigra, It was working at first then it started to go after driving for about 20mins, that time has decreased over the last week and yesterday it refuses to work at all, The engine light will come on after the speedo has gone off. Then goes off again. Does anyone know whether the speedo is powered by electric or a cable? Thanks for any help. Trin, x

I think it might be electric. Works through a vehicle speed sensor.
