1999 Vauxhall Tigra no oil in sum/on dip stick

Car: Vauxhall Tigra
Year: 1999
Variant: 1.4 Auto
Categories: Leaks & Noises
Hi, I have had my Tigra just over 3 months, I noticed when I turned into a coner the oil light would flas on, I checked the oil level, it seemed dry, I put 1L of Magnatec to top it up, now a few weeks later the light is flashing again, I have noticed a few spots of oil under the car, I checked the oil level again and the dip stick appeared dry, when I open the engine cap to top it up again thinking it was a slow leak I noticed the oil level was right at the top near the cap. So it seems like there could be a blockage to the sump, has anyone got any ideas. Any help would be great. Thanks, Trin.x

Are you sure you are looking in the right place re.engine filler cap ? I have never seen an engine where the oil never drained into sump and lay at top of engine .

Hi,

Thanks for replying, luckily I work on a building site so one of the lads has just had a look at it,

The filter was blocked and jammed into the engine, hence the oil near the top. so we cleaned the filter and topped up the oil, so now its anout 3/4 of the way up the dip stick, we will keep an eye on the minor leak.

Hopefully it will be an easy fix for the leak.

Many thanks for your quick response.
