Dull power

1996 Vauxhall Tigra 1.4 Auto
Car: Vauxhall Tigra
Year: 1996
Variant: 1.4 Auto
Categories: Leaks & Noises
Well The car has always been a dull drive like driving a non turbo diesel but the other week I got a friend to do a service and new exhaust parts, after that the car was lively and dare I say it almost fun the problem is now within a couple of weeks its gone back to being a dull drive, it does seem to eat alot of fuel for a 1.4 too.
I have bee back to my friend to check the exhaust if it was blowing but no.
Any Ideas how to get the fun back?

He did look in the cat and saw that it was all together (whilst the cat was still connected at one end) but could be shame their is no cheep way of trying a new cat first lol to see if that makes a difference.
Are you thinking blocked cat or blowing?
