2000 Vauxhall Tigra car sounds like a diesel

You don't say whether it's a 16v or a 8v.Either way ,I don't know how anyone can do that job correctly for that price .How much were the hydraulic lifters ? I would have fitted a cam belt kit . Did they change oil and filter (using correct / good oil ).Were the lifters replaced to cure noise ?

sounds like oil pressure problem to me. is the valve timing correct? could be piston slap. the 1.4 twin cams are prone to it... hope this helps!!!

yes apparantly the lifters were £8 plus vat.. its a 16valve..oil and filter was changed, sump cleaned out but still the noise is there...I am baffled....also the timing belt was changed..

So all the hydraulic valve lifters were replaced at a cost of £8 x 16 + vat ? Then you have the cost of the timing belt , 3.3 ltrs approx correct oil . and filter , flushing oil to clean out sump ? + vat .That would be your £200 practically gone on parts alone .What about the labour ?
