2000 Vauxhall Tigra oil light

The oil light on my Tiggy has started coming on when the car idles goes out with when running. Also has started running hot when stationary i.e traffic lights. oil levels checked and okay - any suggestions please. Can car be used?

could be sump pickup carboned up but id try a sensor 1st as easier and cheaper.also check oil pump.if you have a pressure gauge it will tell u if its a real problem or just electrical
