1996 Vauxhall Tigra idle and starting when hot

Car: Vauxhall Tigra
Year: 1996
Variant: 1.4
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Purchased a few days ago knowing of an idle problem. Starts ok when cold, but sometimes when on a longish run the throttle judders when cruising. When switched off, it has problems restarting when hot until revved high, then idles between 2000 and 900rpm approx. (up and down)
This does not happen all the time but most of the time. Have had a couple of long problem free runs. No warning lights show.
When this happens and stopped at lights or junction its a combination of clutch and throttle to pull away in the best manner I can before feeling it will stall.

Clean out the throttle body but be careful not to get the carb cleaner in our eyes as it hurts like hell.Cant remember if iyt has a stepper motor on that system but if it does clean that as well. If you can get the codes read, you might be able to do it with a paper clip. Check out the internet for sites on doing this..
