Oil light flickering and engine cut out

2006 Vauxhall Tigra 1.4 petrol
Car: Vauxhall Tigra
Year: 2006
Variant: 1.4 petrol
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi was driving work the other morning, car pulled out on me I touched my brake and the oil light flickered on and off. Carried on another 200 yards or so and turned a corner and the engine died on me. Dash lit up, all lights on. Tried to start the car was turning over but wouldn't fire. Had it recovered to my home address, a few hours later, my dad went to check it over and car started straight away. Oil level is fine also. Daren't drive the car as with loss of power, power steering becomes heavy etc, any ideas people?
Ps the dash light of the little car with a spanner symbol has been popping up intermittently over the past couple of weeks, related?
Thanks emma

Could be oil pressure switch faulty .When was the car last serviced and oil and filter changed ? Spanner symbol indicates a fault which will need diagnostic scanning to see what has triggered light .

I only bought the car in dec last year but I have a stamp in the book at 29,458, I'm currently on 32,587. Been running fine until now apart from the spanner light appearing every now and then
