2005 Vauxhall Tigra steering wheel audio controls not working but cd player works

Variant: 1.3 cdti

My CD player works but the steering wheel audio has stopped working. My horn works though. I have the time and date displayed on screen but not the track number or radio station as before.
Any ideas? Adapters can be bought for aftermarket audio replacement to connect to the steering wheel, can these adapters be used to replace and connect to existing factory fitted stereos?
Any help greatly appreciated!

Some info here , but if in doubt call into a audio centre and they should advise FOC.

I've looked at these but they read as they can only be used with after market stereos, my CD player is the original factory fitted one. She's going for diagnostics tomorrow so hopefully will find the fault - fingers crossed!
