Car engine cuts out when your switch on aircon?

2000 Vauxhall Tigra 1.4 ecotech
Car: Vauxhall Tigra
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.4 ecotech

While driving at any speed if you pull out dashboard aircon switch your hear relay clicking rapidly then car immediately loses all power?

Appreciate any ideas.

It looses all power or really slows it down?

Could be a seized compressor. I wouldn't think the electrical system when activating would affect the engines electronics but maybe someone else will shed a little more light on it
