do you mean ecotec engine there not to bad to do just make sure that you have a timing belt or a timing belt kit and antifreeze to top up afterwards and a oil and filter and of course a full head gasket set and and head bolts and make sure you have the head skimmed so it mates perfectly when you reassemble and while you are taking it apart have things marked up in a box ie inlet parts in one box and so on drain the water out off the radiator before starting any of the strip down then you have less risk of contaminating the oil but you will still need to replace the oil of course also need torque settings for the head bolts but any good garage will tell you this sequence of torquing them down

You dont say what size engine is . Some have a timing chain which means you would be advised to fit a timing chain kit .

Sorry its the 1400, Cam belt was done last year, seems a shame to scrap it now but prob the wisest option unless I can get it done cheap

Do you know any good /or recommended tech,s who can do that repair for you ,as it,s quite straight forward and would be a shame to end the cars life if it,s in good condition ,other option would be flea bay spares repairs.
