2006 Vauxhall Tigra n/s door not opening from the outside

The N/S passenger door will not open from the outside. It started off being really stiff to open. The door opens fine from the inside and the central locking works. I have had the whole panel stripped down and still can't find the problem.
Any advice is much appreciated.

Can you not see if the outside handle is moving the linkage to the lock assembly whilst operated ?

Yes the rod moves when i try the handle but it isn't attached to anything and there seems to be no where to attach it.

Well it should attach to the lock assemley in order to open the door from the outside;0)

We're just trying to figure out how it attaches to the mechanism. It looks as though something has broken off. Thanks for your help.
