2005 Vauxhall Signum car wont start

Car: Vauxhall Signum
Year: 2005
Variant: 1.8 Elegance
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Drove my car to work as usual the other morning with car working fine. Came out of work and car would not start. All lights came on, radio came on everything fine but just would not turn over.Starter motor would not even kick in. Noticed in the infotainment system in the section where it shows miles left in tank and instant consumption next to both miles left in tank and the other one was a capital (F). Any ideas? Had a mechanic look at it and he said something about a CIM in the ignition or something. Sounds like it could be expensive? Any help much appreciated.

the cim is the steering colum control module, remove the steering column cowling and check the wiring plugs are tight, try removing them and reseating them as this can cause a problem, the cim can pack up intermittently,it may need sps programming or a new unit altogether.if the battery is ok then check you are getting ignition feed to starter motor and also check the earth contact on starter.if this all ok then benchtest your starter motor
