2002 Vauxhall Omega heating system

The heating system on my vehicle doesn't work and blows very cold air into the vehicle no matter what temperature the vehicle is programed to.the engine also seems to get quite hot and the fan seems to over run.could this be a problem with my thermostat?

Could check thermostat and try bleeding cooling system .If all o.k ,other possible causes .Might also be head gasket .
