1999 Vauxhall Omega lack of power in third gear

i find my car lacks power when going up a hill meaning i have to change down to second gear were i live is all hills in stroud glos can you help with this problem

Could be many causes .Have you checked the basics like plugs , firing on all cyls , compressions , timing belt may have jumped teeth (especially if worn or not been changed )etc .
