2003 Vauxhall Omega coolant system leaking

Car: Vauxhall Omega
Year: 2003
Variant: 2.6 cdx auto
Categories: Leaks & Noises
coolant alert keeps coming on, top up but leaks out again if i turn on the heater or air con, it looks like it is leaking from the three way valve at the back of the engine, could it be a hose, would that leak under pressure?, can it be fixed without spending a fortune ??? any one else had similar problem with their omega ?

Sounds like heater valve leaking . Not expensive part or major job to replace .

Had this problem myself and it was the heater valve. Not too bad a job to do but get a new one. Scrappers parts are ok but this valve could be as bad as yours

Heater bypass valve. It's notorious on these engines. About thirty odd quid I think, but it's a bit of a pain to replace, as there is so much gubbins at the back of that engine and the hoses can be a swine to disconnect in that restricted space.

Coolant leaking about 1 litre per week. Garage states its the auxilliary heater motor under the bumber O/S/F. They further state its a sealed unit that cant be repaired only replaced (at the cost of £500) and that they have never seen such a part on a UK car. They offered to bypass the auxilliary heater motor with a bit of plumbers pipe and then charge me about £200 for doing so. Am I being duped here?
