Hi I have a V6 monterey and have the same problem, I have been told 2 solutions and here are them both,
1st it is the engine temperature control sensor - sensor breaks tells ecu car is about to burst into flames and ecu cuts engine few minuites to cool and it goes again the other i have just lifted from my post and it is this - sounds like coil pack or crank sensor,as its v6 id say all coil packs would run seporate or as a group of 3 so if it cuts out completly id say crank sensor.this tells the ecu how fast the engine is turning if it breaks down the ecu is told zero rpm so cuts the fuel to the injectors
engine stops.if the sensor cools slightly the sensor starts working again engine starts.to prove this either try another or use freezer spray and engine should restart straight away.it doesnt put engine light on because its still in range sensor runs from zero to max rpm.
to recap crank angle sensor also known as rpm or ckp
