1996 Vauxhall Frontera intermitant starting problem

my frontera wont start sometimes then starts others. it turns over fine but just wont fire up. twice whilst driving the power has failed and i have came to a stop. it wont push start either. please help.

what engine is it,check basics first like fuel getting to injectors,spark getting to plugs if petrol engine,is the engine warning light on?

i had a crank sensor fail on my alfa 156. id be driving along, completely lose power, it wouldnt start until cold.. do you think it could be that?

I have just developed a similar issue so any help would be great ,, it seems to be when cold more it will start but rev up and down on its own and if you try and drive off it will not have any umpf then cut out lose all power but will start again after a few tries up until today this seems to reset the fault but just today i have had real trouble re starting it ..
any thoughts anyone ? please ... pretty please with cherries on
it is a 2002 model 2.2 DTI 16v
