1999 Vauxhall Frontera key fob not working

battery completely drained whilst away.
recharged when i returned and car worked fine. during next week key fob started to play up ie not able to open car etc on several occassions.until it stopped working totally. now not able to use fob to open car. alarm goes off as soon as we try to turn on car. any ideas???

Possibly remote has lost it,s coding or needing it,s battery replaced.
