1995 Vauxhall Cavalier dashboard light

My Speedo, rev counter, clock, outside temp gauge etc works however when I put my sidelights or main beam on the dash does not illuminate.
Any Ideas??

firstly have you made sure that the bulbs are not blown in the dash as this the first thing i would check but failing that the switch could even be faulty check these both out and you should be ok
