hard to select first gear then a grind when you select 2nd gear and hard to select reverse. all other gears ok

You could check the clutch master cylinder fluid level , top up and bleed if needed . But usually if clutch related it would affect all gears . It may be wear on the gear shift cables . selector mechanism .
