2007 Vauxhall Antara hole diameter in engine mount bushes bigger than the bolt

knocking from engine mounts when braking.hole in front mount Bush is a lot bigger than the 12mm bolt that goes through it.
made like this or worn away,hole is perfectly round

The hole in bush should be a good fit for the bolt otherwise the bush is useless

I agree with you,it doesn't make sense why they use an m12 bolt in a hole that's 18-20 mm in diameter.i have compared the bush with another and it's exactly the same.
could the bolt just be clamping the bush,like a pinch bolt

Never came across what you describe with any engine mountings before . Got to knock when kicking on braking .

yeah it does knock,that's the reason I took it apart and got two more mountings.
I have looked at vauxhall parts drawings,the m12 bolt is correct,
there are no other bushes or sleeves to take up the slack listed

Engine mounts are usually all mounted solid and it's the rubber that absorbs the movement , cant figure this out why yours is different .
