2013 Vauxhall Antara gear box noise

I noticed that my car became heavier while on-road a few weeks ago and there was a warning sign of oil change on the dashboard. it's only a couple of days it makes a funny sound while running and I called the RAC patrol, they noticed the heavier sound coming from the gearbox.

Does applying the clutch make any odds to the noise or is it solely from the box itself,could start by checking the oil level in the box is fully topped up.

The Antara is well known to suffer from transfer box issues / failures .

Dont know where you are based , but they often have them in stock , off the shelf if needed because they are a very common fault .
