Can someone tell me on the Vauxhall Antara 2.2CDI diesel where the coolant temperature sensor is located? It must be hidden somewhere!

Never done one on that vehicle but usual locations are on the thermostat housing or cyl head .

Damn 2 guys have spent 3 hours looking for it and cannot see it. I wonder if it is between the engine and bulkhead out of sight ?

Halfords say the reason the engine does not start hot is because the ECU does not see the immobiliser hence the engine is being told not to start. They could not find a single error code causing this no hot start problem.

Halfords .................................. The car needs scanned by Tech 2/3 for faults . Why is the immobiliser light not on if what they suggest ? why is there no fault codes shown if that is the case ? Check the crank sensor ..I wont comment further on this when Halfords or any other non franchised dealer is now involved .

Hi whittin,
You don't understand my situation. Vauxhall Thurlow Nunn has done 3 hours of diagnosis for me at £100 per hour and I have reached a cost of £2500 and they still don't know the problem. The car would not start cold or hot or even idle so after £2500 they told me to change all the injectors but would not guarantee it would solve the problem. The MOT expired so I took the car to Halfords but it would not start and run or idle. They refused to do the MOT because the engine had to idle. By chance they checked the codes and discovered the fuel filters under the car were completely blocked and installed new ones. After that cold starting idling and run was fine and it passed the MOT. The big problem is hot starting it still does not start hot once you look and unlock the doors with the key fob. If you stop the engine hot and do not press the lock function on the key fob hot it starts. So how to figure the out spend hundreds of more pounds for diagnostic work when there is no error codes? :-(

Surely the dealership you have paid all the money to will tell location of engine coolant temp sensor ? As suggested , a faulty crank sensor / or wiring can break down when hot causing non start . This is assuming engine crank over when you get non start . I cant understand how a dealership can not diagnose a non start when they have the vehicle physically there and can easily simulate the fault .

Thanks for your reply but this truly the case. I could not afford to continue plugging money into the car when the did not seem to know what is wrong and change mechanical parts hoping it would get fixed one day when they have all the test equipment to check the car. But according to Halfords there is no faults showing on the engine but it stll does not start hot. :-(
