Engine management light has come on

my car was taken back to garage because there was an oil leak coming from crankahaft he said thats what put light the first time car has been repaired and the light was reset it came on again after abiut 20 miles its says in the manual this light is just for exhast emissions

Your vehicle will have had a trouble code stored relating to one of it's components, you need to find out what is stored and post back then i can point you in the right direction.

thanks mr fixit i took it back to garage this mornin he pur computer on it came up something to with petrol injectors or a possible air leak it gave about 3 or 4 problems relating to this code 0170 is the code number that came on the computer he reset it light went of took it home went for a drive this evening li ght came on about 20 miles after driving car seems to be running ok slight miss when car is ticking over many thanks john

sorry mrfixit i forgot you tell that it takes some time for the revs to come back down when changing gear seems to be sticking then its ok

hi mrfixit my engine management light has come on again 20 miles after driving it had been back into garage too find last fault it came up code0170 a fuel fault the mechanic said it could be 1 of 4 faults he reset light again for me again it came on again after 20 miles the car is revving on its own when ticking over and the revs are slow on coming of after gear change the light is still on is is to dangerous to drive many thanks

egr valve is faulty ive replaced many of these at the vauxhall dealers on the agilas corsas and all the other vauxhalls at that all with engine revs and tick over problems but what they tend to do at the dealers is put a blank gasket on below the egr valve and reprogramme it and then you dont have the problem again for some time
