2007 Toyota Corolla smart key locks and unlocks door but won't start engine

Car: Toyota Corolla
Year: 2007
Variant: Verso
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Pls. I need your help!
The casing of the smart key for my Toyota was a bit scruffy that I decided to buy a new case for it. I managed to replace the old case with the new one without much fuss. When I tried the smart key with the new case, it did unlock and lock the door (and it still does), BUT it won't start up the engine.
Before, whenever I insert the smart key into its dashboard slot, the indicators in the dashboard always lit up but, after replacing the key case, none of these indicators light up! And the engine will not start!

Anyone has any idea how to fix this problem?

The key is clearly not being recognized,
So sorry to tell you but somewhere you screwed up when you changed the case.
did the chip fall out?

Problem solved. Thanks for the reply, 1/4drive, but I did not fall out, and I did not screw up the fob. Good thing was I did not immediately throw away the old case after changing it. I just found, comparing the old and new cases internally, that I missed one small part (aside from the chip) to put into the new case. The part has a small tag on it that start with "B", around 10x4x3mm, and is black, which is why I missed it.

Now, the key works fine! I hope this one will be of help to others who find the same problem. It is not just the PCB that needs to be moved to the new case.

That black thingy is apparently the transponder chip. It deactivates the immobiliser when the ECU senses it, just learnt it from the internet. I am buying a new transponder chip to use in an old (used) smart key, and I'll try "programming" it.
