2010 Suzuki Splash shift lock appears to be faulty intermittently but gear box works fine , shifts correctly etc

Sometimes the gear selector will not move from park, the dashboard indicator ( P,R,D,321 ) does not show what gear its in. The gearbox works correctly all the time, shifts smoothly and kick down is instant. Am I correct in suspecting the shift lock mechanism ?
