I am driving along the road about 40 / 50 MPH when suddenly a noise comes on like a diving aeroplane whining away, i take it out of gear then it goes off. You never know when it starts up again, you can go for about 2 days then the same thing starts up again.
my local garage are perplexed as to the cause. Please can you help.

A failing wheel bearing will usually be constant , not going away for days . I would check all transmission oil levels first and possibly changed if needed
