2015 Skoda Superb skoda superb estate tailgate latch not responding

Car: Skoda Superb
Year: 2015
Variant: estate diesel
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
I can hear a faint click when operating the tailgate button, but there is no sound or activity at the latch at all. This happened after about one day of 'tentative' operation. Now there is nothing. I suspect a broken wire where the tailgate wiring loom meets the body of the care. Other electrics seem OK.

Would have thought more likely to be faulty lock assembly in which there is a micro switch that can fail if any water ingress. Often removing boot panel and spraying with WD 40 or similar clears it . May well be damaged wiring , common fault . You could check the boot fuse also ( if this applies )

Hi Whittingehame, thanks for your ideas. I have checked the switch and that makes a clean contact, but does not cause any power to arrive at the latch. I did try to inspect the wiring loom between the tailgate and the body, and I couldn't see any obvious signs of damage to any of the wires, but visibility was limited!
