Infotainment screen problem

2021 Skoda Scala 1.0L TSI SE L DSG
Car: Skoda Scala
Year: 2021
Variant: 1.0L TSI SE L DSG
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
When selecting reverse the infotainment display shows the reversing assist screen with bleeping and bars indicating proximity of objects behind, but when then changing to select drive or another option the reverse mode screen stays on instead of changing to a different screen. This seems to happen more if the screen saver option is selected in settings, whereas if the screen is just left on all the time the reverse screen issue seems to be avoided. Any suggestions as to cause or remedy?

With a car of that year , contact your dealership with your concerns and rectification if needed under warranty .

Thanks Whittingehame for your response, yes I have already contacted my dealers to book car in but was hoping somebody suffering similar issue might have found the answer so I can sort it out myself. Car is leased and seemed fine for first week or so regarding this reversing screen but then started with this problem for no apparent reason. Guessing just another glitch in the amazing world of technology!

You could be right re. a glitch and possibly a software update might be a solution . Better leaving alone as they love any excuse to invalidate warranty .Todays technology is great in todays cars in some respects , but I prefer when you didn't need diagnostic equipment to fix the simplest of faults . Plenty of dinosaurs like me share this opinion !!!

True! I'm glad the dinosaurs are still alive and well so I don't feel lonely! Whatever happened to starting handles . . .. ? Cheers for your response.

Starting handles were brilliant . I remember using them almost daily when servicing cars in workshop , turning engine to adjust valve clearances , get points on the cam for setting etc . Not to mention starting cars when battery flat or low on charge . If stuck you could remove the spark plugs , put in gear and wind the car out with starting handle , but a bit of a novelty . Was taught early in my apprenticeship the correct way to hold starting handle so that when engine fired you did not get a kick that would break your thumb . Memories .....sigh

I’m also having problems with my Scala infotainment system. The car is only 8 weeks old and for a couple of weeks now the infotainment system has been constantly rebooting. The car Bluetooth isn’t working. It rarely connects to my phone via CarPlay and is stuck in and endless reboot loop most of the time.
I took it into the dealers today who tried updating the software, but the problem is still there so I’m now waiting on Skoda Uk for a solution. I’m not very happy.

Sorry to hear about your problems, makes my problem look very minor! I have also contacted Skoda UK and had a reply asking for more details which I've given them, so now waiting for their verdict! Watch this space . . .

Latest news! With a bit of playing about on the infotainment screen I've managed to alleviate the issue with the reverse assist screen sticking on when the screen saver option is selected in settings. I noticed that when the screen saver is selected by ticking the box alongside, it automatically ticks the box to show the clock when screen saver is on, but if you untick the box for the clock to show and just leave the box ticked for the screen saver then it stops the reverse assist screen staying on after deselecting reverse gear. No idea why there is any reason for this connection between the clock showing and reverse screen, but at least it solves the problem I had! Hope you get a solution to your more major problem Notanotherreboot!

Have a late 2019 Scala, been driving it for two years exactly. One problem that occurs very often when starting, reverse then drive forward is that the Personal Data "GDPR" information somehow blocks all other functions. It seems like the GDPR-app was forced into the Infotainment in a very sloppy manner. I also have the glitch where the car thinks I need parking assistance even though I left the house plenty of time ago. Recently the Emergency fault button problem appeared, have not updated it yes.
