2000 Skoda Octavia understanding infotainment columbus

The infotainment is very complex and the owners manual is of little help. There is supposed to be a digital manual but the one I found is in German [I think].
Skoda connect does not Connect and all in all I'm very frustrated.
The mileage setting will not change form Metric to imperial and I find the whole thing confusing.
