2000 Skoda Octavia dead lock

I can't open the drivers door from inside or outside. the key just turns round clockwise and gets stuck anti-clockwise. the internal central locking works on all doors except the driver's.
So it seems that the dead lock is stuck shut!
Any ideas how to get the door open so that i can change the lock?

Need to pull inside door trim off to get at lock assembly / linkage and work manually .
