Hi all. I am new to the site. When I am driving the car suddenly revs up but there is no gear change. I take my foot off the accelerator and let the revs die and then accelerate gently. That appears to do the trick. Any ideas as to what is wrong? Btw, it seems to happen when the car wants to sjift from second to third.

Many possible causes with an auto g/box of that year i.e could be the clutch packs worn out .Could check ATF level but probably need overhauling or replacing .

I had a diagnostic done and it appears to be the torque converter. Basically I need to rebuild.
