2004 Skoda Octavia knocking noise

Car: Skoda Octavia
Year: 2004
Variant: 1.6 fsi manual

Problem 2, i have a knocking noise coming from under my feet when the car lifts off when it stops, it seems to be when the engine is rocking it only happens at low speed as the car has zero power to rock at high speed.

I would start by getting the engine and gearbox mountings checked and go from there.

Just a thought, but if you bought it from a dealer, I would go back and have a chat about the faults.

That engine combined with the soda body is normally a powerfull unit that should pull well, would check your ball joints and struts as well as engine mounts ,as they are not common for major fault,s due to vw influence on the brand.

Would have thought suggestion about the engine and gearbox mountings would be a good place to start , easy check to see if excessive movement and engine " kicking ".

P.s
If it is worn mountings , the exhaust may be hitting floor below your feet when you take up the drive .

Were those faults not noticed when car checked over or road tested ? Were you given any warranty ?

The knocking noise was only noticed when i got home 75 miles away as i wads on the motorway i didn't here it till i got back on the back roads. I called them today and they are willing to look at the faults but there's no garrantee they will fix it and would need to keep it for a few days which would leave me stranded and have to get the train back then a whole week on the bus to work! Which takes just over the hour. They ain't auto eletricions so unless very simple won't be able to fix parking sensors, they wont fix the clutch judder unless they think its unsafe, so with all the hassel think ill get it done locally

Hi, I`ve just put a post on your other query (clutch judder). Have to agree about getting it done locally, but try and get dealer to contribute......worth a shot!

To be honest can see dealers side as it is a 9yr old car .
