2004 Skoda Octavia parking sensors not working

Ok so I've just brought an skoda octavia 1.6fsi but i had a few faults with it one is the parking sensors that don't work, when i turn the key i get a few bongs is this normal? When i engage reverse i get a lower bong noise (i thought this was normal on the test drive as my saab made a noise when i engaged the parking sensors) but reading the manual it says there shouldn't be any bongs when engaging reverse and that if you hear a noise there's a fault. Also there's no picture of the car on the dash when in reverse that only comes for a split second when you change gear, i might add the reverse lights cone on and the car reverses ok.

Normally if you select reverse and put your ear to each sensor you can hear a slight ticking noise if that sensor is okay ,that way you should locate the faulty one ,if it,s a sensor issue.

On some models there was a fault with parking sensor control module inside the nearside wheel arch .Water from rear washer used to get in causing corrosion inside module .

The parking sensors actually worked today when i backed into a space at lunch time at work :) they where pretty crap compared to the ones on my saab but they worked. It wad sort lived as the didn't work on my way home later that evening :(

is it normal to get 6 bongs when you put the key in the ignition?

update;;;; the parking sensors seem to work but only when its hot!?
