2002 Skoda Octavia trouble starting

my car not happy starting as of end of jan.had plugs replaced pre xmas as taking couple of goes to start in very cold weather.car at end of jan suddenly decided to almost not start-takes up to 6 goes to start.skoda cleared a fuel valve i think but problem returned.now had starter replaced but same problem this am.however each time i stopped car to shop it started without prob.this wasnt the case pre latest visit to garage...any ideas to sort out once and for all?
