Control system for the Exhaust

2006 Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI
Car: Skoda Octavia
Year: 2006
Variant: 1.9TDI
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
I just took delivery of this Car today. On the long journey home circa 160 Miles - about half way home the "Control system for the Exhaust" warning light i.e. the Engine Block symbol lit up. I drove it home the rest of the way at circa 70MPH expecting that it was generated by a carbon build up and the lively spin would clear same. The light was still on when I got home is it likely to clear itself or will I need to get it checked for a fault code. I have had similar problems with diferent models but they cleared themselves shortly after a hard drive.

Is there anything else I should do mysalf if it persists.

Thanks for the excellent advice available on the site,

you will have to get the car read for fault codes with a suitable code reader to see why it came on,could be many different reasons, also the codes will need to be erased after the fault is fixed as they will remain in the ecu memory
