2ltr TDI,150 bhp (manual), having problems with the engine dying on me when coming down the gears? It is not a stall the engine just dies between gear changes (3 down to 2 )at around 20mph. When the lower gear is selected it bumps itself back to life again?

With that year , and dependent on mileage and servicing , might be best to take it back to dealership for fixing . Could be a known fault , often resolved possibly by a TSB or software update

Thanks, 8000 on the clock, and it is booked in for this and another problem under warranty I was wondering if this was a common fault.

Leave it to them for fixing , they will check if covered by any TSBs or updates . Could ask them when taking car in , but common reply is " no we haven't had any with that fault " lol
